About Me
My Approach:
I take a kind and empathetic approach to therapy, creating a safe, supportive space that is essential for healing. My work is highly individualized and tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I focus on building on clients’ strengths while exploring practical, realistic solutions to support meaningful progress.
My approach is relational and process-oriented, and I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques when appropriate. I welcome individuals at all stages of their healing journey—whether they’re just beginning, feeling more stable but still in need of support, or navigating ongoing concerns related to eating or body image. Many clients with eating disorders also experience underlying anxiety and/or depression, which we address together throughout the therapy process.
I also work with individuals who have struggled with long-term eating disorders and may feel that full recovery isn’t possible. In these cases, we focus on providing ongoing support and developing strategies to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
Having personally recovered from Anorexia and Bulimia, I understand how overwhelming it can be to take that first step toward healing. I also recognize the shame, embarrassment, and vulnerability that often accompany an eating disorder, and how powerful it can be to have someone in your corner. I offer consistent, compassionate support to help clients make meaningful, lasting progress. When appropriate, I collaborate with local physicians and dietitians and assist clients in building additional support systems outside of therapy to ensure comprehensive, holistic care.
I work with adults and adolescents (ages 15 and up), including many Indiana University students and clients from across the state of Indiana. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions. I have been a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Coalition for Overcoming Problem Eating/Exercise (COPE) at Indiana University, the Eating Disorder Task Force of Indiana, and the National Association of Social Workers.
My Background:
I earned my Bachelor degree in Elementary and Special Education from Manchester College. I spent several years working with individuals with special needs, physical challenges, and on the Autism spectrum, before returning to school to obtain my Clinical Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University in 1995. Following graduation, I worked for several years with the Bloomington Hospital Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorders Program, where I led therapy groups and provided individual therapy. In 2002, I established my private practice and have been
specializing in the field ever since.
